Our Caregivers

Not everyone who applies to work at Good Samaritan meets our standards or is capable of emulating the Caring and Compassion of the biblical Good Samaritan. We have a very systematic process of hiring and training that ensures we have the "Cream of the Crop" of caregivers.

Selection, Hiring, Orientation and Training. The process of hiring our Caregivers starts with the Selection process. Not everyone meets the qualities we seek in our Caregivers - Caring & Compassion.

Employment Hotline. All interested applicants are directed to call our Employment Hotline, (716)783-8124, to learn more about the Aide position. We want all applicants to know as much about the position and our special dedication to helping our patients, especially Seniors in a faith-based manner.

Application. All applicants must come to our office to obtain an application or download the application from our website.

Interviews. Each applicant is interviewed. We are seeking only those Aides who can demonstrate examples of caring and compassion.

Reference Checking. After a face to face interview, we call all former employers and personal references provided. We want a full profile from all former business relations and personal acquaintances.

Screening. Following extensive background checks which include making inquiries in the New York state Department of Health's Health Commerce System to check on criminal background, the New York state Nurse Registry to check on certification and DMV checks, only those selected are invited to our Orientation.

Orientation. In Orientation our Caregivers learn our unique approach to caring for our patients and assisting seniors. All Aides are given materials that provides them with our Mission, Values and Philosophy. A thorough review of policies and procedures is covered and the special needs of their assigned patient is reviewed.

Ongoing Training. Our nurse specialist conducts quarterly continuing education with our Aides. Proprietary.

Specialized Training. At Good Samaritan we work closely with a number of professional organizations. We have obtained training materials from the Alzheimer's Association that we use to train any Aide who works with Clients with memory issues.
